LANCASTER, Pa. — US fans rooting for a native player to win the 2024 US Women’s Open have much to be hopeful for as American Andrea Lee is tied for the lead at 5-under par with Australian Minjee Lee and Wichanee Meechai of Thailand heading into the final round of play today at the Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania.
The three are battling alongside an international host of contenders for a $2.3 million purse and the opportunity to hoist the Harton S. Semple Trophy on what has proven to be an extremely challenging LCC course. Only five players were under par at the end of the third round on Saturday.
Los-Angeles native Andrea Lee, who was a standout at Stanford, is scheduled to start her final round at 2:15pm today. She will be paired with Minjee Lee, currently ranked 9th in the LPGA. Meechai will tee off at 2:04pm with Hinako Shibuno, who is starting the final round at 3-under.
Meechai shot to the top of the leader board on Friday with a stellar performance that included a four-birdie run at the start of her round.
The way the course has been playing, the outcome of the tournament may hinge on how those near the top of the leaderboard play the notorious No. 12, the par-3 hole that got the best of top-ranked LPGA player Nellia Corda on the first day of play. Corda carded a 10 after entering the water hazard three times.
Tickets are still available to attend the US Women’s Open for the final round of play starting at just $55 for adults, and a ticketed adult can bring up to four juniors under the age of 17 for free. Juniors aged 17 and under can request a complimentary Gallery ticket at the Ticket Office with a ticketed or credentialed adult. Junior tickets cannot be obtained in advance, but can be obtained at any ticket resolution area located at the main gates. Junior tickets will always be available.
