Editorial Policy

What we publish. News about Lititz and the surrounding townships, based on public records, meetings, official statements and interviews we actually conducted. We do not publish quotes we did not get, and we do not invent sources.

Checking facts. Numbers, names and dates are checked against a primary source wherever one exists, such as meeting minutes, budgets, court dockets or agency data. We say in the story where the information came from.

Paid content. Anything we are paid to run will be labeled clearly, kept apart from news coverage, and never written to look like our reporting.

Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it in the story and add a note at the bottom saying what changed and when. We don’t quietly rewrite errors. To report a mistake, use the Contact page with “Correction” in the subject line.

Sensitive stories. We are careful with crime and court coverage involving private people. On request, we review older arrest reports when charges were later dropped.
