Dan Keller experienced the ride of a lifetime during Community Days at the Lancaster Airport on Sunday morning, and it wasn’t in a Ford.

Keller, co-owner of Keller Bros. Ford in Lititz, enjoyed an adrenaline-pumping flight aboard the L-39 Albatros known as “Vandy-1” courtesy of Warrior Aviation, an charitable organization that he and his wife, Suzy, support.

Not only did Keller hitch a high-speed ride, but he actually flew the fighter jet under the watchful eye of LCDR Mark Burgess, USN (ret.), who also piloted the aircraft during the acrobatic demonstration during the air show.

“It was amazing,” said Keller, “the takeoff was kind of like you felt like a little stone in a slingshot, and after that, it just got better. I had a great instructor, of course, and we did some amazing things up there too.”

Keller performed a fly-by, spins, rolls, and a thunderhead during his time controlling the plane that tours the country to connect wounded warriors with opportunities offered by WarriorAviation.org with flight and carer training as well as job placement in aviation.
