“It was a tremendous honor to be invited to the White House as a digital publisher, photographer, and social media user, and to have the opportunity to meet Mr. Souza,” said Rebuck. “As a nation, we have watched history unfold through Pete Souza’s lens.”

Rebuck was selected from over 1,000 applicantsafter White House staff learned that she solo-publishes an entire award-winning digital newspaper, LititzDailyNews.com, for which Rebuck has received four of the top digital publishing awards on the East Coast, including Best Use of Social Media.

“It had been a life-long dream of mine to tour The White House, and to have that dream fulfilled by a special invitation from our nation’s leadership, for my efforts to tell and share the stories of Lititz on social media, is especially rewarding.”

Since Rebuck launched LititzDailyNews.com over a year ago, she has shot and published over 2,000 photos and 250 original stories while simultaneously managing Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts for the site.

“It has truly been a labor of love to provide coverage of Lititz news, events, and people,” said Rebuck, “and it’s been rewarding to receive the invitation as a result of the intensive time and effort I have dedicated to the community during the past year.”

Rebuck traveled to the nation’s capital as one of only about 40 Instagram users invited from around the country to take part in the second-ever White House Instameet. An Instameet is a gathering of Instagram users who meet to photograph a designated location, then post their photos to Instagram.

“A year ago I didn’t even know what Instagram was,” she said. “Let alone did I ever think it would open the doors to The White House for me.”

Rebuck regularly posts her photos to the LititzDailyNews.com Instagram account, @LititzDailyNews. The White House Instameet was held in conjunction with the 12th Worldwide Instameet, which took place on October 3, 2015.

Rebuck and other Instagrammers enjoyed a question-and-answer session with Pete Souza before they received a special tour with unparalleled access to rooms in the White House.

“It was such a tremendous experience to hear Pete share his insights and his passion for documenting history, to be able to view and photograph national treasures up close, and to be able to meet other media innovators,” said Rebuck.

After the event, Rebuck posted some of her photos of the White House to the LititzDailyNews.com Instagram account, and to a Photo Gallery on LititzDailyNews.com. The White House posted photos featuring Rebuck and other attendees at the event to the official Instagram account, @whitehouse.
