A Community Calendar for Lititz and Local Areas

Ongoing through Dec. 20-Santa’s Mailbox- A mailbox is set up at the  Lititz Springs Park Visitors Center to receive letters to Santa. The Lititz LEO Club, an organization of junior and senior high school students in the community, will receive and respond to every letter addressed to Santa that has a return address. Dec. 11- Community Christmas Carol Sing- If you like the Moravian Trombone Choir and the chance to sing Christmas carols as much as we do, you’ll want to head over to Church Square on Main St. in downtown Lititz on Thursday, December 11 at 7 p.m. Song sheets will be distributed for everyone to sing holiday classics, and afterwards, light refreshments will be available in Fellowship Hall.  The high-tech Putz complete with coordinated lights and soundtrack will also be available for various showings during the evening in the church social hall. The event is free, and is hosted by the Lititz Historical Foundation in conjunction with the Moravian archives. Dec. 12- Second Friday- Downtown Lititz buzzes with energy, activity and entertainment when merchants keep their doors open late from 5 to 9 p.m. Vendors, specials, and different offerings each month.  Go to lititzpa.com for details about the December event.

Dec. 12Glory Days Vintage Toys and Collectibles will hold its Grand Opening this Friday, December 12 as part of 2nd Friday. Come see an 8-foot tall Matthew McConaughey, play the Vintage 1960’s Pinball machine, enjoy holiday refreshments, see photos by local photographers,and get special opening day discounts on things from your Glory Days. Dec. 12- Christmas Candlelight Tour of Johannes Mueller House- Let Lititz Historical Foundation costumed docents transport you back to the past on a guided tour of the historic 1792 home located at 137-145 East Main Street in Lititz as part of this month’s Second Friday. The restored home features hundreds of traditional items from the late 1700’s and early 1800’s.  Take a stroll through the adjacent Lititz Museum and view artifacts, antiques, and a special visitor from the North Pole.  Santa will greet children in the museum from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the gift shop will be selling a selection of Moravian stars, ornaments, local books, and other local handcrafts.For more info, call the Historical Foundation at 717-627-4636 or visit their Facebook page.

Dec. 13- Winter Market- Bundle up and bring your appetite to Winter Market this Saturday, December 13TH from 10 a.m. to -1p.m. at the Water Street location. There will be bread, cookies and other holiday goodies from TWO LADIES Baking, granola and parfaits, cupcakes, , kale chips, twisted treats. Also wreath garlands and grass-fed beef for sale.

Dec. 13 & 14- Warwick HS Holiday Concert- The Warwick High School’s Winter Orchestra and Choral Concert will be held Saturday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m.and Sunday, December 14 at 3 p.m. in the Warwick High School Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature the music of composer David Clydsdale, around the theme of “Hope for a Broken World.”,music of composer  The WHS Orchestra, Holiday, Winter, Production Company, and the Concert Choir will each perform. 301 W. Orange St., Lititz. Admission is free.

Dec. 13- Benefit Christmas Bake Sale- If you like cookies, Moravian mints, and small breads, then head over to Moravian Manor on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the bake sale sponsored by the Lancaster Moravian Church to benefit the new Adult Day Services mission opening in 2015 at The Moravian Center in Lancaster. The bake sale will be held at Moravian Manor, 300 West Lemon St., Lititz, and other homemade goodies will also be available. Dec. 13Relay for Life Fundraiser-Come out and support Relay for Life at an event helf by Amazing Racers of Lititz from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside JoBoy’s restaurant, 27-31 E. Main St., Lititz.For more info, call 717-203-2584.

Dec. 13- Carols and Candlelight- Ah, the flicker of candlelight and the sound of Christmas carols. Come to Old Zion Church in Brickerville on Dec. 13 at either 2 p.m. or 4:30 p.m.At 2 p.m., the Red Rose Quartet will lend their voices to the group.  At 4:30 p.m., the Red Rose Choir. The tickets are FREE and can be requested starting November 17, 2014. Mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to David Hoffman, 1263 Ash Lane, Lebanon PA 17042, and indicate which time you wish to attend (4 ticket limit). CAROL SING WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY: If wintry weather occurs on Saturday, December 13, or if there is already snow or ice on the ground on December 13, the Carol Sing will be cancelled. Dec. 14- “Simply Christmas” Celebration- Enjoy a more simple Christmas gathering with Lititz United Methodist Church in a community event featuring cookie decorating, crafts, bingo for ages 12 and up, story time, movie time, themed Christmas rooms, musical performances, games, food, a fire pit for making smores, and a live Nativity with animals starting at 4 p.m. What “smore” do you need?  Well, how about a light meal at 5 p.m., and at 7:30 p.m. outdoor carol singing near the Nativity.
