At least one person was reportedly trapped inside of a vehicle that was in an embankment off Newport Road Friday night.  First responders peered over a guardrail in the rain on the north side of the street down into a wooded area where workers prepared pull the car up the slope.

Crews responded to the scene of the accident just east of the intersection of North Oak and Newport Road. The road was closed as emergency personnel responded to the call that came in around 8:30 p.m. At 9 p.m., the road was still closed as members of the Brunnerville Fire Company and other companies remained on the scene.

The condition of the driver is unknown at this time. It is not known whether passengers were in the vehicle or if other vehicles were involved in the crash. Calls placed to both the Brunnerville Fire Company and the Lititz Fire Company were not yet returned.

We’ll update this story as more information becomes available.
