UPDATE: LititzDailyNews.com has just learned that some jobs at the West Lincoln Avenue plant may also be affected. This has yet to be confirmed by Cargill.
It was a sad morning in Lititz, prompted by the news that the historic Wilbur Chocolate factory on North Broad Street will be closed by Cargill Chocolate in January. Locals have posted their reactions to the news on the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts of LititzDailyNews.com, which first reported the story this morning.
“This breaks my heart!” commented Tricia Prewitt.

Over 130 employees are expected to lose their positions at Cargill in Lititz, most of them in production. The announcement comes in the wake of job cuts in the community as a result of BB&T bank’s recent purchase of Susquehanna Bank.
“More jobs lost, gonna be a miserable time for the holidays,” wrote Terry Fichthorn.
We will be updating this story with additional reaction from Lititz residents and readers throughout the day. Please email your comments to [email protected] or post them on our Facebook page.
