R. Ronald Roth
R. Ronald Roth, 75, of Lititz, PA, passed away peacefully at Masonic Village on Sunday, October 26, 2014.
Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the husband of Dawn Hurd Roth, with whom he celebrated a second wedding anniversary on April 5, 2014. He was the son of the late Richard T. and Pauline Ludwig Roth.
Ron received his high school diploma and received his Bachelor’s degree in Business through home study courses. He worked for Raymark Industries for 35 years as the Customer Service Manager.
He proudly served with the United States Coast Guard and was a Free and Accepted Mason with the Masonic Lodge # 43, Tall Cedars Forest #27, Reading Consistory, Lodge of Perfection, and Lodge of Perfection, Lancaster.
He enjoyed woodworking, reading, and passionately watching television from his recliner. His favorite things to do with his grandson, Dominic, included playing games, basketball, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. He treasured the unique bond he had with Dominic as he resided with him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Chad M. Roth, Lititz, PA, three stepchildren, Justin W. Shanley, Lititz, PA, James M. Shanley, Jr., Statton, Maine, and Kayla N. Shanley, Mt. Joy, PA, a sister, Lynne Roth Magee, Lititz, PA, four grandchildren, Christian Shanley, Connor Ness, McKenzy Shanley, and Dominic Shanley. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Ronald Roth II, who passed in 1982, and his first wife, Linda.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ron’s Life Celebration Service at the Spacht Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad Street, Lititz, PA on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Heckman officiating. Interment will take place at Machpelah Cemetery. Friends may call at Spacht Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service. The arrangements have been entrusted to Spacht Funeral Home.
Rhoda H. Martin
Rhoda H. Martin, age 88, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Landis Homes in Lititz, PA.
Born in New Danville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Martin B. and Anna Harnish Thomas and wife of the late Harry G. Martin, who died in 1987.
Rhoda was employed in the food service department of the Mennonite Home in Lancaster. She previously had been employed at Pleasant Acres in York, PA.
She was a member of Rohrerstown Mennonite Church. She was formerly a member of the Stony Brook Mennonite Church. Rhoda enjoyed Bible study, loved to garden, walk and spend time with friends and family. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving is a daughter, Beverly J. Martin, of Lancaster; a son, Richard L. Martin, husband of Michele, of Red Lion and a brother, Paul Thomas, of Goshen, IN and two grand cats. A son, James L. Martin, a daughter, Betty L. Martin; sisters, Esther Eisenberger and Ruth Thomas Taylor preceded Rhoda in death.
Rhoda’s Life Celebration Funeral Service was held at Landis Homes East Bethany Chapel on October 12, 2014. Interment followed at Stony Brook Mennonite Cemetery in York, PA.
