A 29-year old graduate of Warwick High School was reportedly shot in the face and jaw Wednesday morning in the parking lot of Lititz Family Cupboard Restaurant in what police say appears to be an incident of road rage.  He remains hospitalized following surgery and is expected to recover. Police have yet to disclose the identity of either man involved, but LititzDailyNews.com has learned the identify of the wounded man.

Darrel Smith, a 2002 graduate of Warwick High School, was allegedly shot by a 74-year old Lancaster County man shortly after 9 a.m. yesterday. According to the preliminary police investigation, the two men were driving in separate cars on Newport Road in Warwick Township before they pulled off into the parking lot at the Warwick Township restaurant.

The alleged shooter used a .357-caliber handgun to fire a single round, striking Smith. Smith was transported to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment. The 74-year old was taken into custody at the scene. He cooperated with police and was interviewed at Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department headquarters. After the NLCRPD preliminary investigation was completed, and the District Attorney was consulted, no charges were filed. Charges may be filed once police are able to interview Smith.

A friend of Smith’s girlfriend has established a GoFundMe.com account seeking donations. Read that exclusive LititzDailyNews.com story here:
