VIDEO: Local Pilots Take to the Sky for the Fourth of July (Video Is Below the Story)

While thousands were gathered on the field adjacent to Lititz Springs Park to watch the Pyrotechnics Extravaganza at the 198th annual celebration Saturday night, two local pilots took to the sky for the Fourth of July.

“It was very cool to see fireworks from above,” said Ricky Beauchamp, a charter pilot for a company based out of the Lancaster Airport in Lititz. He and fellow pilot Chris Fischer thought it would be fun to do something different to celebrate the holiday.

“We thought it would be cool to watch the fireworks from the sky, so we rented a plane and flew around Lancaster for about an hour and a half.”

The friends circled fireworks displays in Ephrata, East Petersburg, Lititz, and downtown Lancaster, where they viewed the Barnstormers display. Beauchamp and Fischer took turns flying and filming the fireworks.

“It really gives you a new perspective on them,” said Beauchamp. “Some of them go up pretty high too, about a thousand feet off the ground!”

Beauchamp and Fischer shared their aerial fireworks video exclusively with LititzDailyNews.com. Read our Lititz Fourth Celebration coverage HERE and View our LititzDailyNews.com PHOTO GALLERY from the Fourth HERE.
