The Warwick High School boy’s basketball team has pulled off some remarkable wins this season, showing strong 4th-quarter performances. They defeated L-L Section 1 champs Cedar Crest, handing them one of only two losses on the season. They did the same for McCaskey, who finished second in the league standings.  Both games came down to the wire. Warwick showed what they are made of by hanging tough, making clutch free throws, and big rebounds right down to the buzzer.

If there is one thing this team has demonstrated this year in addition to offensive and defensive skills on the court, it’s a no-quit attitude.  Unfortunately, tonight they couldn’t pull off a last-minute win, even though they scored 24 points in the final quarter tonight.

Warwick fell short in what would become their final game of the season, bowing 58-50 to Reading in the District 3 Playoff at Reading. James Willis led the scoring for the Warriors tonight with 13 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Jordan Cipalla and Grant Forney each scored 9 points, while Damian Soto netted 8 before fouling out. Nate Miller turned in 6 points for the evening.

Zimmerman turned in a perfect performance, hitting 5 for 5 from the free throw line. Cipalla hit 6 out of 8 from the line, and the Warriors were 15-21 from the foul line for the night.

At the end of the first quarter, Reading led 12-8. Both teams turned in the same scores for the second period, bringing Reading’s lead to 24-16. After the half, Warwick scored 10 in the third to Reading’s 11.  Even though they turned in an amazing 24 points in the final quarter, it wasn’t enough to catch Reading, who finished with 23 points.
