Will Event Featuring Tree Lighting, Carols, be Rescheduled?

Tonight’s Christmas in the Park event at Lititz Springs Park has been cancelled due to inclement weather, said Jeff Rinehimer, park board president, in an interview today with LititzDailyNews.com. Based on weather reports calling for a 90% chance of rain at 6 p.m. tonight, the decision was made to cancel the event.

“If it was snowing, it wouldn’t be cancelled,” said Rinehimer, “it would fit into the scene.”

Rinehimer states concerns over safety and people’s health as a driving factors behind the decision.

“Safety is the priority,” he said.  The decision will be made in the next day or two regarding whether the event will be rescheduled for this year.  Christmas in the Park is a centerpiece for the community, ” said Rinehimer.  The event, which features a tree lighting ceremony, carols by local choirs, the Moravian Trombone Choir, an other holiday festivities, along with “A Merry Lititz Christmas,” kicks off the holiday season in Lititz.  Tomorrow’s Merry Lititz Christmas will go on as scheduled.
