A dense fog that fell over the area yesterday afternoon will still be lingering Wednesday morning, affecting visibility during the morning commute.

The National Weather Service issued a Dense Fog Advisory at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday night, warning that visibility would be dropping to one quarter of a mile or less overnight Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“Areas of dense fog will cause rapid reductions in visibility and hazardous driving conditions,” according to the advisory. The fog is widespread throughout Lancaster County and extends throughout many counties in the state.

The advisory cautions motorists to use low beams or fog lights, slow down, and allow a safe following distance. The current temperature in Lititz at 2 a.m. is 38 degrees. The high Wednesday is expected to be around 56*, and after the fog lifts the skies are expected to be partly cloudy with a chance of rain in the afternoon.

Wednesday’s high temperatures are expected to be the peak temperatures for the week.
