“Tonight Show” Host Posts Lititz Band’s New Single on Tumblr

With the release of their first album “A Flourish and a Spoil” less than a month away, The District got a bump from superstar Jimmy Fallon today when the Tonight Show host featured the first single from the album, “Peaches,” on his Tumblr account.

“We’re kicking off your Tuesday with an exclusive listen to a brand new track from The Districts called “Peaches,” Fallon’s tumblr post says. “It’s off their upcoming album A Flourish and a Spoil which will be releasing February 10th on Fat Possum records!”

Fallon’s Tumbler post features a player that allows visitors to listen to “Peaches” via Soundcloud for free.

“Hey, here’s another ‘peaches’ link! Thanks @jimmyfallon and your tumblr,” The Districts tweeted today.  The album releases February 9 in the UK, and the next day in the US.

The Districts, who graduated from Warwick High School, have had a challenging year, especially while playing in St. Louis. The van containing their gear was stolen out of a gated lot during one performance then later recovered, minus the equipment. The van was broken into during another downtown performance and the some of the band’s belongings were taken.

“We want nothing more than to keep coming here,” The Districts wrote in an open letter to St. Louis posted on their website, “but the risks posed to our gear is something no touring independent band can afford.”

Fans contributed to the band’s indiegogo campaign to raise money to replace the stolen equipment. In a December article in DIY Magazine, The Districts described their hometown as “a good place to grow up.”

The four-member band kicks off their tour in February in New York City, followed by 3 appearances in Pennsylvania, including a February 13 gig at the Chameleon in Lancaster.

For now, the band is excited for their album’s release, and the support it, and the single “Peaches” has received from Jimmy Fallon. The District’s album “A Flourish and a Spoil“ is available now for pre-order on iTunes here and on Roughtrade here, where a limited number of purple LPs are available in addition to the MP3 and a version with a bonus four track CD of exclusive and unheard recordings.
