The Warwick School Board tonight voted 9-0 to approve the 2015-2016 school district calendar.   The district and the teacher’s union were at odds over whether to start school prior to Labor Day on September 2, or after Labor Day, on September 9, as the current collective bargaining agreement requires.

In the absence of a one-year memorandum of understanding which the district sought in order to modify the collective bargaining agreement with the Warwick Education Association, the proposed calendar that complies with the current labor agreement was put before the board for a vote. Parents who participated in an informal LititzDailyNews.com poll last week were split on the issue.

The board voted tonight in favor of the proposed calendar that calls for school to start on September 9, 2015.
