A woman suffered injuries after her vehicle crashed into a tree on Brunnerville Road in Elizabeth Township Tuesday night, according to a report published by LancasterOnline.

A 24-year old woman who was reportedly driving her Volkswagen north towards the intersection with Hammer Creek Road after 5 p.m. when her vehicle crashed into a tree in the 1700 block of Brunnerville Road. It appears the sedan slid sideways into the tree. The woman was flown to Reading Hospital from the scene of the accident.

The driver was unconscious when removed from the vehicle by emergency responders, according to Brunnerville fire Chief Lynn Mearig, who is cited as the source in the LancasterOnline article. He reported that the woman suffered a head injury and that when personnel arrived on the scene they discovered the vehicle on its side into the tree.

Photographs taken by a firefighter at the scene Tuesday night reveal startling images of the crushed side of the vehicle bearing the indentation of the tree trunk that the vehicle impacted.
