Lititz, PA-LititzDailyNews.com) – COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Lititz, where over 100 people have tested positive in the 17543 zip code. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health statistics released today, Sunday, May 3, so far 111 individuals have tested positive for coronavirus in Lititz.

LOCAL MAN BEATS COVID AFTER 40 DAYS IN HOSPITAL

The state has only released data down to the zip code level. The Lititz zip code includes Lititz Borough as well as Warwick Township and parts of Manheim Township.

COVID-19 CASES EXPLODE AT LUTHER ACRES; 52 SICKENED, 9 LIVES LOST

Outbreaks of COVID-19 in Lititz long-term care facilities are clearly contributing to the rise in coronavirus cases. An outbreak at Luther Acres has sickened at least 52, 30 of them residents. Brethren Village has reported that 22 tested positive, including 11 residents.

COVID-19 CASES DOUBLE AT UNITED ZION RETIREMENT COMMUNITY (UZRC)

United Zion Retirement Center has seen at least 14 tests come back positive, 8 in residents. Landis Homes has had only one resident test positive. These 50 resident cases account for less than half of the Lititz total.

All of the above facilities, with the exception of Landis Homes, have also had staff members test positive. To date, 39 staff have tested positive at the facilities listed. Only employees who live in the 17543 zip that test positive would impact the Lititz total.

DEATHS REPORTED IN LITITZ BOROUGH, WARWICK TOWNSHIP, MANHEIM TOWNSHIP

Lancaster County has begun reporting deaths on the level of municipalities from data reported by the coroner. As of Sunday, May 3, the coroner has noted 9 deaths so far in Lititz Borough, which corresponds to the number of those who have lost their lives reported by Luther Acres. Two have died of COVID-19 in Warwick Township, where United Zion Retirement Community reported one death so far. Thirty-five deaths have been reported by the coroner in Manheim Township, where Brethren Village has reported four and Landis Homes one.
