Warwick sophomore Keir Uhlin made a splash in the State AAA Swimming Championships held at Bucknell University on Saturday. Uhlin finished sixth in the consolation or B-finals of the contest, bringing him to a 14th-place finish in the final standings.

Uhlin finished the preliminary for the 500 free finals fast enough to be seeded 16th going into the finals, where he swam his personal best time yet in the event: 4:39:37.

“The final time of 4.39.37 was a best time for him for both High School and USA Swimming,” said Brian Uhlin, Keir’s father. “Keir club swims year round at Diplomat Swim Club which swims at Franklin and Marshall.”

Uhlin’s performance in the preliminary consolation race placed him as the 16th seed in the finals. Uhlin rode the wave into the finals with his 4:41:22 in the 500 Freestyle preliminary race.

While the elder Uhlin attended the State Championships with Keir, wife Heather was off to New Jersey at a swim meet with the couple’s two younger children, who also swim competitively.

Keir’s younger brother, Cade also swam for Warwick this year, but did not make District cuts.  His sister, Brina, who is in 7th grade also swims year round with her brothers at Diplomat Swim Club.

Keir also swam the 200 Freestyle, but did not make finals at the State Championship. He finished 20th overall in that event with a 1:44:20.
